Industry Leaders’ Good Works Deserve Duplication

Undoubtedly, companies that perform good works for the community and the environment enjoy some positive marketing benefits from their efforts—the “halo effect.” But who can begrudge them those positive responses when their efforts truly are helping the greater good? Recently, two news releases we received promoted some positive steps industry leaders have taken that set the example for others. One, OHL, has joined thousands of other firms in making a commitment to reduce greenhouse gases and air pollution by joining the Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay Transport Partnership. Another, DHL, recently shipped thousands of laptops to Haiti to help educate schoolchildren in the earthquake-devastated country. (Read details on both events at our website: www.couriermagazine.com.) While not every company has the resources to impact the world at these same levels, every small step we take adds up. Give some thought to how you and your company can have a positive impact on our world. It makes a difference. Truly.
